Matross's vegetable garden update ,Beautiful isolated rural Lower Yorke Peninsula South Australia.37 kilometers to the supermarket or 37 meters to my vegetable garden and 14 fruit trees and grape vines, which provides continuous fruit and vegetables for up to 4 moths. As all gardeners will state in relation to taste, supermarket vegies comes no where close to the taste of home grown, once tasted gardeners never go back to to buying supermarket fruit and veg unless necessary. Far to much for my own needs and excess go to my appreciative nieghbours. Built the fence gates second hand pavers and concreted the edges (bought an elctric cement mixer) Aprox. $2,500 all up cost, 90% completed. Tons of sheep manure, and pea straw from the local farmers, Cheap fish nets and my dog keep nuisance bird from getting at the fruit trees and grapes. I do not grow vegies or grow very little in winter (dig in and let fallow) next is to implement a few new ideas, for example soil preparation, plant a couple mote fruit trees and establish a permanent compost bins with concrete floors.Parsley, spring onion, tomatoes,(fresh peas) lemon juice is the basis for making delicious tabbouleh
